I try my keyboard with the addition of a rear light mod. I would use the key lock slider to a light switch and LED indicatr power. I counted 30 seats LED. I asked myself whether I have a load of the plate they eat.

Yes, you can overload. First light, the Scroll Lock on / off a transistor in a small IC chip on the keyboard. He expects that a fee of about 5-10mA and nothing else. If the load is increasing, not without surprise a transistor, not to cushion the load, if the chip is burned. Keyboard hop!
